Event Recap: An Emerging Cultural Leaders Gathering w/Da Vinci Art Alliance
On Thursday, April 18, CultureWorks hosted Futures + Legacies—an evening of conversation, creativity, and community connection in celebration of Philadelphia’s cultural future. Held in our coworking space in Center City in collaboration with our partners at Da Vinci Art Alliance, the event welcomed artists, organizers, and project leaders from across the region for a night that centered both the possibilities ahead and the legacies we carry with us. It coincided with an art showcase that highlighted the work featured in our space from Da Vinci Art Alliance members.
Throughout the evening, attendees participated in informal networking and storytelling, while also learning about new opportunities and resources available through key organizations in the city:
World Affairs Council of Philadelphia was represented by Stefanie Yeung, who shared how the organization is connecting Philadelphians to global perspectives through education and dialogue.
The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia was represented by Brian Luisi, who offered insight into their efforts to support civic engagement and economic development in the region.
Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (PVLA) was represented by Reese Lemke, who spotlighted upcoming efforts to sustain free legal support for artists and creatives.
TNK Arts Collective was represented by Makiah Stephens, who also served as our moderator, amplifying Philly’s emerging music scene and the voices shaping it.
Da Vinci Art Alliance was represented by L. Elwood, who reflected on the organization’s long-standing work supporting artists in South Philadelphia.
Spirits Up! was represented by founder Sudan Green, who shared how his work blends wellness, mindfulness, and community healing for Black and Brown communities.
Philly Children’s Theatre was represented by Sarah Gordin, who discussed her commitment to accessible, imaginative theater for young audiences across the city.
We were also honored to be joined by representatives from the NAACP ACT-SO competition, who shared information about national scholarship opportunities for young artists and scholars.
As part of the evening, CultureWorks offered access to our Cultural Mavericks membership—an initiative providing 50% off coworking membership for creatives looking to join our community. We’re thrilled to continue welcoming new voices into our space and fostering deeper connections across Philadelphia’s cultural landscape.
