Creatives Live Here

Are you an artist or gig worker struggling with conventional real estate financing? Often, folks in the art world feel left outside of the traditional real estate cycle and feel that there are not options for them and their unique situations. We seek to debunk those common real estate myths by focusing on new programs, including grant programs, loans that are available based on 1099s and bank statements, rehab loans, as well as state-subsidized programs. By highlighting the options available for our arts and culture sector, we hope to foster homeownership for individuals who otherwise would be locked out of the real estate world.

Presenters:

  • Ken Metzner, Real Estate Professional with the Garden Group at COMPASS Realty

  • Jon Devin, Senior Mortgage Consultant, CrossCountry Mortgage

  • Abraham Reyes Pardo, Vice President Office of Housing and Diversion Services, The Urban League

Registration: This is a VIRTUAL event open to the general public, and donations are requested. There is no fee, but registration and sign-in are required.

Please register here by June 25.

About the Ken Metzner: Ken Metzner, Real Estate professional with the Garden Group of COMPASS.

The clarity of a lawyer. The judgment of a minister. The passion of an arts advocate.

Ken learned from his mother and grandmother, both of whom were realtors, that being a real estate professional isn’t about making sales; rather, it’s about connecting people to the right properties for them – offering your expertise, vision, and care to guide clients to the decisions that best support the next phase of their lives.

Throughout his journey as an attorney, interfaith minister, and leader in the Philadelphia area arts community, Ken has been a trusted counselor and skilled negotiator who supports his clients in making thoughtful, informed decisions.  A creative, solutions-oriented advocate, Ken draws upon his experience as an 18-year resident of Philadelphia, community connector, and local real estate investor to help people see the big picture and carefully navigate the intricate details inherent in real estate transactions.

Since relocating to Philadelphia from NYC in 2005, where he served as senior vice president and general counsel of luxury retailer Saks Fifth Avenue, Ken has immersed himself in the region’s vibrant arts sector. He was tapped to lead three different arts entities with deep roots in the communities they serve. Ken’s philanthropic service to the local arts sector includes stints as board president of the Philadelphia Cultural Fund, vice chair of the board of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance and a board member of CultureWorks. He was educated at the University of Virginia School of Law, Georgetown University, the New Seminary for Interfaith Studies, and the London School of Economics.

About Jonathan Devin: Jonathan’s job as a mortgage professional is to understand each borrower’s goals and priorities, then offer home financing options that fit their individual situation.

His priority is making sure my clients know what’s happening with their mortgage at every step of the process. I am always available to provide guidance — from application to closing and beyond.
